If you are massive LMFF fan like we are…you know that the LMFF show for 2011 has been and gone and it was fabulous however in March at 312 days from now the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival will commence YAY!

LMFF is an annual celebration that features fashion, design, business and creative endeavours. It brings industry people from all over the world to Melbourne, and definitely has put us on the fashion map!

The Melbourne Fashion Festival Ltd was established in 1996 as a not for profit organisation (bet you didn’t know that) to promote the Australian fashion industry, stimulate sales and present Melbourne as a centre of design excellence.

Currently LMFF has become Australia’s premium consumer fashion event offering more than just a fashion show over the month but parties, fashion forums, international shows and a sense of inspiration.  LMFF continues to inspire and connect the designers, consumers & retailers who keep Australian fashion alive!

I bought a new book today. Mitchell Oakley Smith’s ‘Fashion’ showcases the dynamic and influential fashion designers from Australia and New Zealand. He has profiled 70 of the most exciting creators from both countries – both high and low end fashion from the likes of Zimmermann and Arnsdorf to Romance was Born and Something Else.

I always find these books fascinating and I love reading about designers and how they got to where they are now. Australia and New Zealand are becoming more and more influential in the fashion industry and it’s not hard to see why. In most stores the book retails for around $80.00 — of course, all fashion-related books are expensive. However Amazon.com has always got second-hand options or cheaper new versions so check it out.

Also, check out Oyster mag’s online interview with Smith himself to read more about the book.

Abandon Label…?

So Kiss Chacey has designed (another) new collection for you boys. ‘Abandon Paradise’ is the slogan stamped across the singlets and t-shirts. I have to give them kudos– the collection isn’t entirely bad. However regardless of this, you are bound to find at least 800000000 other guys with the same piece of clothing.. My advice? Don’t wear it to a music festival, christmas party or social gathering where other dudes your age will be present.

Head to www.kisschacey.com to check out the full collection.

We effing love his current collection ‘Brides of Christ’ and upcoming collection ‘Some kind of Bliss’. Each garment is better than the next, I only wish I was loaded so I could  buy every gorgeous piece.
