Hannah Marshall @ LFW

Hannah Marshall’s LFW show kicked off with a film by Rankin, which showed layers of tulle stripping away to reveal a woman. Way to capture everyone’s attention… And she maintained the attention by presenting quite an inspired and modern collection for Spring 2011. A main feature in her collection were tightly bound rigid ruffles– reminiscent of origami. As popular within both LFW and NYFW Marshall went for lighter muted colours, apart from a few black pieces at the beginning of the show.

Have a geez:

With an excellent combination of slouchy and fitted silhouettes combined with neutral tones and brilliant royal blues- Jaeger presented simple and relaxed confidence at LFW. I also love the natural looking models– refreshing change from the usual drag queen look a likes that we see at so many of the other shows.

Here are some of my favourite looks from the collection:

London Fashion Week is definitely a lot more interesting than NYFW… nudity…. and eggs??

Check out Giles Deacon’s feature look for this years fashion week:

The eggcoat.

Errr yeah. It’s gross. But it still sh*ts on the cost-cutting shows that were presented at NYFW. London Fashion Week seems to have so much more to offer. The rest of Deacon’s collection, despite not being entirely wearable, was inspired and in short, beautiful.

Naked Ambition?

London Fashion Week 2010… It wouldn’t happen anywhere else. French-born Charlie Le Mindu launched his label just one year ago– however his label has already hijacked the headlines with the amazing head wear, which has included wigs in the shape of the eiffel tower.

His statement at last years Fashion Week unveiled a full face headdress made of real mice and rat carcasses … (EW). Needless to say he outraged animal activists. When asked if he was worried about the public opinion regarding the carcasses he said “It’s better to make them beautiful than give them to the snakes…”

errrrrr. riiiiiiiiiight. If you say so.

This year Le Mindu sent his models down the runway completely naked. An interesting strategy, apparently the crowd didn’t know where to look. How about at the hats? No surprise that one of Le Mindu’s biggest fans is Lady GaGa…

Le Mindu is now based in his studio in East London.

Here are some of the pics from his show…

Thoughts???

Well I guess the headwear is nice?
